Have you decided this is the year you take your fitness goal to the next level?
It’s a new year and as usual, a lot of resolutions are flying round in the air.
No matter how you look at it, exercising is hard work.
Be it home workout or gym workouts.
But here’s the thing, it’s not enough to decide that you’ll workout 4x or 6x a week. How are you going to go about it?
Here’s a guide to help you.
1. Make A Plan
You’ve decided that in 2023 you’re going to work hard to get the body you want, no matter the takes.
But how do you do that?
Of course, you’re familiar with the common saying “he who fails to plan…”
If you don’t make a plan on how to make your decisions come through, that’s what they remain, decisions, thoughts, desires, and dreams.
So make a plan.
2. Start Easy
Easy to say “make a plan”. You can’t make a plan without knowing how to go about it.
I’ve written a guide here to help you go about it
The major thing however is to start easy, you don’t want to make this long list of exercises to do every day and by the end, you’ll only be exhausting yourself which will cause you to defeat all the calories you’ve burned while working out by eating too much cos trust me, you’ll feel tired, stressed and HUNGRY.
3. Progress With Each Day
Now you’ve made a plan and if you took anything from point 2, then you maybe planned to start with only 5 sets of exercises 1 rep each, and that’s great.
But here’s the thing with exercise, if you want to see results, you need to learn to intensify and by that, I don’t mean change your routine, I mean intensify your routine.
Say you start with 1 rep the first week, and work to increase your rep each day. It shouldn’t be a weekly thing.
For instance, the first day you do 5 push-ups, the next day, try to get comfortable with 5 and advance to 6.
Progress each day.
4. Don’t Do It All
It’s easy to be tempted to want to do all the exercises that exist on the planet, especially since there are people on the internet telling you that if you do this, you lose fat here or you get abs.
While they may be wrong or right, you’re just starting and you have all the time in the world to try out different exercises, so pick some exercises, and stick to a routine for as long as you can.
You’ll get to do it all eventually, but don’t start now.
